Iranian Minister of Interior Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said so far 4,000 people have signed up for the candidacy of the upcoming parliamentary elections which is expected to be held on February, 2016.
"We will hold the elections for Parliament and Assembly of Experts under special circumstances, and predict highly competitive and politically loaded elections, where political parties would challenge their corresponding weights in mobilizing the public.
The Interior Ministry should prepare the grounds for a healthy, just, and peaceful elections to rule out the rise of any rumors incipient just after the election about interference of unauthorized bodies and organizations in elections," Rahmani Fazli said, according to Mehr News Agency.
Iranian Parliament has 290 members, fourteen of whom represent non-Muslim religious minorities. Parliamentarians are elected for four- year terms.
