4 killed, 36 injured in Istanbul terror attack

Four people were killed and 36 injured, 7 of them seriously, in Saturday’s suicide bomb blast on Istanbul’s Istiklal Street, said Turkish Health Minister Mehmet Muezzinoglu, according to Anadolu Agency.

Muezzinoglu told reporters in the western province of Bursa that 12 of the injured in the blast are foreign nationals.

He added that four of the injured are currently in surgery.

After the blast which took place at around 11:00 a.m. local time (9:00 GMT), several fire-fighting trucks and ambulances were seen rushing towards the scene.

Security forces evacuated the area, while the street has been closed to traffic.
