5th News Agencies World Congress to be held under title “New Challenges for News Agencies”

The 5th News Agencies World Congress (NAWC) will be held in Baku on November 16-17, 2016, under the title “New Challenges for News Agencies”. The decision was made at the meeting of the News Agencies World Council (NACO) in Baku on May 23.
The Council members approved the topics of the sessions and reviewed the list of the NAWC participants.
They also decided to address to the UN Secretary General and the UNESCO Secretary General regarding the Congress.
The Council members established the positions of a President and a Vice-president of NACO. The CEO of Press Association, Clive Marshall, was elected the President, while the First Deputy Director General of Russian TASS agency, Mikhail Gusman, was elected the Vice-president of the Council.
On November 20, 2013, during the 4th Congress in Riyadh, AZERTAC was elected as the host of the 5th NAWC and its president for the years 2016-2019.
The NAWC was founded with the goal to ensure and improve the members' ability to perform as key operators in the fast growing diversity of the global media market.
The objectives of the NAWC are to strengthen unbiased news reporting, support the principle of freedom of the press and contribute to the general understanding of the news background. The organization is working to inspire and support news agencies, sharing knowledge of the most modern and important developments in the media business.
