The Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) declares its plans for creation of the new “AZALJET” brand representing low-cost flights of air carrier.
Flights under the “AZALJET” brand will start from March 28, 2016 on the basis of the available infrastructure of civil aviation of Azerbaijan. On the flights carried out under the “AZALJET” brand, conveyance and food will be offered onboard for additional fee. Similar practice partially since August, 2015 and full-scale since February 1, 2016 began to be applied successfully on a number of flights of AZAL. In this connection, the airline made the decision on creation of a separate brand which will offer air tickets according to this scheme.
In recent years, low-cost airlines became popular around the world. It is the alternative approach to business of air transportation expressed by a formula "low expenses-low tariffs-high demand-high income".
After creation of a separate structure, AZAL will continue to carry out the classical flights including, as before, both conveyance and full range of onboard food.
Thus, the national air carrier of Azerbaijan, AZAL, will have an opportunity to effectively compete on aviation market both with classical and low-cost airlines which show interest in Azerbaijani market. In particular, the Turkish Airlines have already carried out its “Anadolu Jet” low-cost brand flights to the Azerbaijani regions. And at the end of March Hungary’s low-cost airline of WizzAir will resume flights from Baku to Budapest. Already, other low-cost airlines, including the Turkish “Pegasus” and “Atlasjet” show interest in Azerbaijani flights.
"This business model assumes economy on a number of conveniences that allows to reduce considerably the cost in comparison with classical air carriers. Along with it, we, as before, guarantee the high level of safety and service on all flights of national air carrier of Azerbaijan", president of AZAL Jahangir Asgarov stated.
