Angela Merkel and D.Kemeron miss the conference Rio +20
Baku, May 8 (AZERTAC). German Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister David Cameron will miss the UN conference on sustainable development, according to France 24, with reference to diplomatic representatives of both countries. The event, also known as Rio +20, will take place in June in Rio de Janeiro. Angela Merkel, who received a personal invitation from the President of Brazil Dilma Rusef, contacted her by telephone and agreed that Germany at this event will represent the Minister for the Environment and Minister Norbert Röttgen of Dirk Neybel. The embassy did not specify why the chancellor will not be able to take part. Instead, Prime Minister of Great Britain will be represented by his deputy Nick Clegg. Note that the previous event has been specially postponed so as not to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Rio+20 conference, is the fourth event of this size since 1972. It is expected that it will bring about 100 leaders of foreign countries and the total number of participants exceeds 50 th goal of the conference – redefining the political positions of countries within the framework of the overall contribution to the sustainable development of human civilization and the solution of problems related to protection of the environment and preserving the ecological balance for the descendants.
