Asadov und Jabrayilov top ten in both stage and GC in Tour of Hainan
The Azeri riders of the Synergy Baku Cycling Project continue their outstanding performances in the Tour of Hainan. On the fifth stage, Elchin Asadov and Samir Jabrayilov made it into the final break group, with Asadov finishing eighth and Jabrayilov tenth on the stage which featured two ranked climbs. Both riders are now in the top ten in GC, with Jabrayilov sixth and Asadov eighth.
On a very rainy day, a five man breakaway dominated much of the stage. The race split on the second ranked climb of the day, with many riders being dropped, but Jabrayilov easily made the first group. Asadov was slightly distanced but made his way up to that group. After the summit, the five-man break was reeled in, leaving the group of 26, including the two Azeris, in front.
