Azerbaijan's first lady, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva has been named an honorary doctor by Israel Medical Academy.
Deputy Premier Abid Sharifov received the diploma of the honorary doctor on behalf of the first lady from Director of Israeli Horev Medical Center Roman Barak in a ceremony organized at the National Center of Oncology in Baku.
Barak said the honorary doctorate recognized Mehriban Aliyeva`s contributions to international medical science and to the development of Azerbaijan-Israel cooperation in the field of healthcare.
Sharifov hailed bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all fields, and underlined the importance of strengthening these relations.
He also praised Israeli doctors` work in Azerbaijan, and thanked them for the equipment for treatment of seriously ill patients they presented to local medical centers.
