Azerbaijan, Brazil ink Action Plan for cooperation
Azerbaijan and Brazil have today signed an Action Plan for cooperation in the field of sports.
The document was signed by Azerbaijan`s Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov and Brazilian Minister of Sports Aldo Rebelo.
Prior to the signing ceremony, Rahimov stressed the importance of the Action Plan, adding the document would make an important contribution to the further development of cooperation in the field of sports. The Azerbaijani Minister highlighted the activities of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as preparatory work for the Baku 2015 First European Games.
“Thanks to head of state, President of the National Olympic Committee Ilham Aliyev`s attention to sports, this sphere is rapidly developing in the country,” he underlined.
Rahimov said there were 41 Olympic Sports Complexes in Azerbaijan.
He hailed the Brazilian delegation`s active participation in the First Global Forum on Youth Policies held in Baku on October 28-30.
Aldo Rebelo praised development of sports, including chess in Azerbaijan. He expressed confidence that Azerbaijan would successfully host the 2016 World Chess Olympiad.
Brazilian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Santiago Luis Bento Fernandez Alcazar was present at the meeting.
