Baku, August 2, AZERTAC

Relations between Azerbaijan and Iran are developing based on the principles of friendship, mutual respect and good neighborliness, said Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov and Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Co-Chair of Azerbaijan-Iran State Commission on Economic, Trade and Humanitarian Cooperation Mahmoud Vaezi as they have met in Baku.

They hailed cooperation between the two countries in the fields of transportation, pharmaceutics, machinery, oil and gas, energy, agriculture and tourism.

The two stressed the importance of a trilateral meeting of the Azerbaijani, Iranian and Russian presidents, which would be held in Baku on August on the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev.

The ministers noted that the International North–South Transport Corridor, which would be one of the main discussion topics at the trilateral meeting, would essentially contribute to the development of inter-regional cooperation between the three countries.
