Azerbaijan, Pakistan discuss cooperation

Interior Minister of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Ramil Usubov has met a delegation led by Chairman of Pakistan`s Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Rashad Mahmood.
The Minister highlighted relations between the two countries. The Minister said ties between Azerbaijan and Pakistan have rich historical and deep roots. The Colonel-general noted Pakistan was one of the first countries who recognized Azerbaijan`s state independence, adding both countries successfully support each other within the international organizations. Mr. Usubov said thanks to political will of Presidents of Azerbaijan and Pakistan overall relations developed even further across the last years.
Usubov highlighted the socio-political developments after the country gained its state independence, the enormous efforts the national leader of Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev made for construction of legal-democratic state, the socio-economic reforms conducted under his leadership, as well as the reforms in the legal-enforcement bodies to establish stability in the country.
The Minister also highlighted the activity of the Ministry, as well as its bodies and structure.
Rashad Mahmood, in turn, praised steadily developing relations between the two countries, adding it is mutual sympathy and fraternity that lie at the heart of our ties. Rashad Mahmood stressed the importance of fighting against the religious extremism, international terrorism and transnational crime. He also emphasized the significance of development of strategic partnership and friendly relations between the two countries in overall fields.
