Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates have explored prospects for agricultural cooperation as Minister of Agriculture Heydar Asadov met with a delegation of Dubai-based MBM Group. They discussed opportunities for attracting UAE investment in Azerbaijan`s agriculture.
The minister hailed the development of political and economic relations between two countries. He also emphasized “wide” potential for cooperation in the agricultural sector. “Azerbaijan has 9 out 11 climatic zones. There is a favourable investment environment in the country, which also has great export potential.” Asadov also highlighted President Ilham Aliyev`s attention to agriculture.
They discussed the creation of agricultural parks, pesticides production enterprises, logistics centres for keeping and trading the livestock products, export of Azerbaijan-made agricultural products to the UAE and other countries.
MBM Group Corporate Affairs Director Federico Carvellini expressed the company`s keenness to cooperate with Azerbaijan, pointing to the country`s strategic location between Asia and Europe, its development and the leadership`s attention to agriculture.
He reaffirmed MBM Group`s interest in providing technical and financial assistance for the development of agriculture in Azerbaijan.
Carvellini said that MBM Group will submit a proposal to the Ministry of Agriculture with the aim of investing in restructuring the infrastructure of Azerbaijan`s agriculture and creating agricultural parks in the country.
