Azerbaijan earned about 1 bln manats from tourism revenues last year
Baku, January 29, AZERTAC
“Last year the tourism sector earned revenues of nearly one billion manats,” Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev has told journalists.
“This makes four percent of the gross domestic product.”
“Cancellation of licenses in tourism sector contributed to lower prices. This does not mean that the industry will remain uncontrolled. We will monitor the process in the field of tourism in various forms, by determining the degree of quality through the amount of the bank guarantee,” he said.
"Taking into account the crisis situation we do not expect an increase in the number of tourists coming to Azerbaijan this year. Our goal is to maintain the current stable figures and give impetus to the development of domestic tourism," Garayev added.
