Azerbaijan is a reliable partner in increase of energy competitiveness and energy security

A delegation led by Robin Dunnigan, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Diplomacy in the US Department of State’s Bureau of Energy Resources who is on a visit to Baku to attend the 23rd International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition in Baku, has visited the Energy Ministry of Azerbaijan.
Minister Natig Aliyev said US support played important role in energy projects implemented by Azerbaijan during past 20 years. The Minister noted that works on the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) are carried out on schedule. According to him, 70% works on Shahdeniz 2 and SGC have already been completed. The Minister also expressed his optimism on TAP. He stressed that along with Azerbaijan, the SGC will allow gas transportation from Middle Asian countries, Egypt, Iraq and Iran to EU countries: “Currently, construction of connecting pipeline from Bulgaria to Greece is on the agenda. At the same time, pipelines from Italy to its northern neighbors, from Albania to Balkan states are planned to be constructed”.
In turn, Mrs. Dunnigan appreciated Azerbaijan-US cooperation and its role in SGC project. According to her, Azerbaijan is a reliable partner in energy diversification, as well as increase of energy competitiveness and energy security and said that US will continue to support Azerbaijan.
The sides had comprehensive exchange of views on current situation in global energy market and other perspectives.
