Azerbaijani Ambassador meets Jordanian Minister of Culture

Azerbaijan`s Ambassador in Amman Sabir Aghabeyov has met Jordanian Minister of Culture Lana Mamkegh.
Speaking on the fraternal relations between the two countries, Minister Lana Mamkegh noted that the personal friendship between the heads of states played an important role in strengthening the bilateral ties. “The high level of existing bilateral political ties makes contribution to expansion of cultural cooperation,” she underlined. The Minister hailed the organization of the Days of Jordanian Culture in Baku in 2009 and the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Jordan in 2010.
She praised the services of the Embassy in organization of Baku trips for winners of the essay competition “What do I know about Azerbaijan” among Jordanian students and students of the Philadelphia University, the participants of the “Univision” Student Song Contest. The Minister said Jordan was keen on close cooperation with Azerbaijan, and stressed the importance of expanding fraternal and cooperative relations in the field of culture.
Ambassador Aghabeyov stressed Azerbaijani side was always ready for cooperation with Jordan.
The Ambassador also informed Lana Mamkegh on the Bloody January events, committed against Azerbaijani people, adding “despite all efforts of the former Soviet leadership, Azerbaijani people managed to restore their independence after 20 months from the January 20 events”.
Sabir Aghabeyov also touched upon the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying more than a million of Azerbaijanis became refugees and IDPs. He underlined Armenians destroyed hundreds of cultural and art objects in the occupied Azerbaijani territories.
