Baku, March 20, AZERTAC
Spokesman for the Azerbaijani foreign ministry Hikmet Hajiyev has urged the US Department of State to address the issue of the rights of Azerbaijani refugees and internally displaced persons.
“The US Department of State would be better urging Armenia to fulfill its commitments to the OSCE and the UN Security Council related to the liberation of the occupied lands of Azerbaijan, and raising the issue of restoring the rights of Azerbaijani refugees and IDPs,” said Mr Hajiyev as he commented on the US Department of State`s recent statement on Azerbaijan.
‘Azerbaijan has ensured the rule of law, and continuous measures are taken to ensure sustainable development of democracy.”
“Azerbaijan remains committed to its commitments to international organizations.”
He said: “All these measures are primarily aimed at ensuring the main component of the Azerbaijani government’s activity - the interests of the country's population. No one is persecuted for political views in our country.”
