Azerbaijani State Adviser on Multiculturalism, Interethnic and Religious Affairs attends International Conference in Athens

Azerbaijan`s State Adviser on Multiculturalism, Interethnic and Religious Affairs Kamal Abdullayev has visited Athens at the invitation of country's Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias to attend the International Conference "Religious and Cultural Pluralism and Peaceful Coexistence in the Middle East".

The conference, which brought together Greek public and government officials, religious leaders and political figures from various countries, heard a lecture from Mr Abdullayev entitled "Azerbaijan`s experience in ensuring multicultural security ". He gave detailed information about ethnic and religious diversity in Azerbaijan.

The State Adviser also highlighted the government`s policy to ensure multicultural atmosphere in the country, and protect the rights and freedoms of national minorities.

Mr Abdullayev spoke about the Greek community in Azerbaijan. “More than 700 Greeks live in Azerbaijan now. Greek society "Argo" has operated in Azerbaijan since 1994,” he said.
