Rome, November 5 (AZERTAC). The 3rd Baku International Humanitarian Forum is another achievement Azerbaijan has made in its domestic and foreign policy, said Azerbaijani ambassador to Italy Vagif Sadigov in his interview to AZERTAC`s special correspondent.
Speaking about the history of the Baku International Humanitarian Forum, which is a platform for discussing urgent humanitarian issues, the ambassador said the co-chairs of the first 2011 Forum were Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Vladimir Putin of Russia. “This important and traditional international Forum was excellently organized in Azerbaijan`s capital for the third time.”
Sadigov said that the event brought together prominent members of the political, scientific and cultural elite of the international community, including the well-known statesmen, Nobel Prize winners in various branches of science and heads of influential international organizations.
“Accomplishments Azerbaijan has gained in all fields are known to everyone. Participants of the event praised Azerbaijan`s rapid development. These achievements can be example to other countries.”
The diplomat noted that Italian delegates had taken part in all three forums held in Baku. “Italy was represented in the 3rd Baku International Humanitarian Forum by a 40-man delegation, including parliamentarians, journalists, scholars, politicians and businessmen.”
“As part of the Forum, Italian delegates held meetings with Azerbaijani officials, representatives of civil society. They exchanged views on prospects for development of Azerbaijan-Italy relations. The Italian representatives hailed Azerbaijan`s economic growth, as well as tolerance the country. They also praised the peaceful coexistence of a number of nations and religious confessions in Azerbaijan. They hailed the fact that all religious confessions are equal before the law and have the same status in frames of the model of state-religion relations of present-day Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan enjoys religious tolerance and multiculturalism,” the ambassador said.
