Azerbaijani chess players will participate in the Aeroflot Open 2016 in Moscow from February 29 to March 10.
Grandmaster Eltaj Safarli and FIDE master Aydan Khodjatova will try to bring home medals.
The blitz tournament at the Aeroflot will start on March 10. There is an entire day dedicated to blitz after the classical event ends. The seriousness of the organizers can be gauged from the total prize fund: a humungous €20,000 and the first prize is €5,000.
The total prize fund of the three tournaments (A, B, C) is €120,000, the total prize fund Group A is €65,000.
A winner of the Aeroflot Open (A title) gets invited to the super tournament in Dortmund, Germany, that is held usually in July – this year it is from 9th-17th of July.
