Azerbaijani defense minister meets EU Special Representative for South Caucasus

Azerbaijani defense minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov has today met a delegation led by European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus Herbert Salber.

Zakir Hasanov said 20 per cent of internationally recognized territories of Azerbaijan had been under the occupation of Armenia, and more than 1 million people became refugees and IDPs as a result of the occupation.

The minister noted that the UN Security Council adopted four resolutions on unconditional withdrawal of Armenian troops from the occupied Azerbaijani lands, and said that Armenian government was interested in maintaining the current status-quo and ignored the resolutions.

They also discussed other issues of mutual interest, as well as military-political situation in the region.​
