Azerbaijani referendum meets international standards, European Academy for Elections Observation

The European Academy for Elections Observation (EAEO) has said Azerbaijan`s referendum has been held in accordance with international standards.

Speaking at a press conference in Baku, chairman of the Maltese Parliament, head of the observation mission of EAEO Angelo Farrugia said the referendum was fair and free, and was organized in accordance with Azerbaijan`s legislation. He said the mission monitored the voting in 20 polling stations across the country.

Farrugia said the voting was observed by local and international monitors. He noted that the vote count was held in an open and transparent manner. The mission observed the vote count, and registered no frauds or irregularities.
