Azerbaijan’s Embassy sends note of protest to Spanish Foreign Ministry
The note urges the Spanish government to “prevent the attempts by Spanish local and regional officials to adopt such resolutions”.
“Any such resolution may be considered a biased move against the Republic of Azerbaijan and lead to relevant consequences.”
The Azerbaijani Embassy also demands an explanation from Spain`s government of how a person named Mirzoyan visited Basque Country as the foreign minister of the so-called Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and which passport he used to enter Spain.
The note also demands that necessary measures are taken to prevent such visits and movements in the territory of Spain.
The Azerbaijani Embassy also plans to hold meetings with the head of the Basque government, chair of the Basque parliament and heads of parliamentary political groups on September 25 and 26.
Amendments to the draft law were made during a visit of foreign minister of the so-called Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Karen Mirzoyan to the Basque Country. The document exaggerates the so-called Nagorno-Karabakh Republic`s right to self-determination, saying it can act as an independent party in the negotiations to solve the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. The Armenian media distorted the reports to allege that the Basque parliament recognized independence of the so-called Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
