Baku, September 16 AZERTAC

Statement adopted by the European Parliament strongly harmed Azerbaijan`s relations with EU said Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov as a part of the press conference with his Turkish counterpart Feridun Sinirlioglu.

He said the resolution, which was adopted in haste, made biased and slanderous claims against Azerbaijan.

The top official noted the resolution, contrary to the essence of international relations, includes absurd and insulting expressions going beyond ethical norms. The FM said this is unacceptable, adding, adoption of such a resolution was diplomatically illogical. "Azerbaijan is an independent and sovereign country. No sovereign state can accept behaviour in a manner of dictate and political pressure." He added.

The Minister said we recommend to the European Parliament that speaks about values, to deal with more serious problems covering the whole Europe, as well as racial discrimination, xenophobia, chauvinism, Islamophobia, radicalism, extremism and inhuman behavior towards migrants.

He added: "If anybody chooses such unethical form of expression in respect of Azerbaijan, it will be responded adequately and inadequately".
