Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov has met Slovenian delegation led by President of the National Council Mitja Bervar.
The sides praised development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Slovenia, adding reciprocal visits contributed to the improvement of cooperation.
Mitja Bervar recalled the statement adopted in Slovenian legislative body on Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, adding this document supported solving the problem peacefully, on the basis of UN Security Council`s Resolutions and within the OSCE Minsk Group.
Mr. Bervar congratulated Azerbaijan with hosting the Baku 2015 European Games, saying Slovenian sportsmen will attend these competitions with a large delegation.
Mr. Mammadyarov highlighted historical relations between Azerbaijan and Slovenia, praised Slovenian peoples` remembrance of Azerbaijanis, especially Mehdi Huseynzade who struggled for independence of Slovenia from the fascism.
“Azerbaijan attaches special importance to developing relations with the Balkan countries”, said Mr. Mammadyarov, adding there are fruitful opportunities for developing cooperation between the two countries in the fields of energy, economy, trade, making investment, culture and sport.
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, Elmar Mammadyarov said the attempts to change the internationally recognized borders were unacceptable, adding all states had to respect the norms and principles of international law.
