Azerbaijan`s Labor Ministry, UNICEF to implement joint pilot projects

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Labor and Social Protection and UNICEF have agreed to implement joint pilot projects on the basic elements of the concept paper and the development of the Strategic Action Plan based on the fundamental principles of the protection of children.
The UNICEF Office in Azerbaijan made a presentation on an analysis of the system of social security in Azerbaijan from the point of view of children’s welfare. The presentation was held at the Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
Speaking at the event, Minister Salim Muslimov said the Azerbaijani government attaches great importance to protecting children's rights in the country and promoting social projects.
The minister stressed the importance of cooperation with UNICEF in enhancing the effectiveness of institutions for children with disabilities. He also noted that some measures are taken to develop social rehabilitation and social services to children under the Action Plan for 2014-2015 signed between the ministry and UNICEF in 2014.
The head of the UNICEF Azerbaijan Office Andro Shikaladze said the organization will continue to promote the development of the child protection system in Azerbaijan.
