Head of the working group on Azerbaijan-Luxembourg inter-parliamentary ties Elmira Akhundova, MP Sabir Hjaiyev have paid a visit to Luxembourg. The visit took place as part of the invitation of the Parliament of Luxembourg.
Addressing the meeting, President of the Chamber of Deputies Mars di Bartolomeo spoke about the history of the legislative body of Luxembourg, as well as its structure and ties.
Elmira Akhundova highlighted Azerbaijan`s history, saying the country was the first democratic republic in the Muslim East. The MP also provided an insight into a cause and consequences of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Ms. Akhundova spoke about the resolutions adopted by the international organizations on immediate, unconditional withdrawal of the Armenian-Armed forces from Azerbaijan`s occupied lands.
The MP said national leader Heydar Aliyev made enormous efforts in strengthening Azerbaijan`s socio-economic and political situation and the country`s growing as a reliable partner in the international arena. “Today this course is successfully being continued by President Ilham Aliyev,” she added.
On the role of Azerbaijan in ensuring the energy security of Europe, Ms. Akhundova emphasized the significance of the TAP project in this regard.
Sabir Hajiyev highlighted Azerbaijan`s ties with the international organizations.
During the meeting, the sides stressed the contributions of the bilateral ties in strengthening the inter-parliamentary relations.
Adviser of the Embassy of Azerbaijan to Belgium and Luxembourg Elchin Bashirov, chairman of the Congress of Azerbaijanis of Benilux Sahil Gasimov were also present in the meeting.
