Azerbaijan`s Parliament Speaker meets Turkish Premier

Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov has met a Turkish delegation led by Prime Minister Binali Yildirim.
The Speaker congratulated Binali Yildirim on his election as the prime minister, and wished him success in his activities.
Ogtay Asadov praised the Azerbaijan-Turkey relations as an embodiment of “one nation, two states” phrase expressed by national leader Heydar Aliyev and said that sincere relations between the two countries’ presidents positively influenced on expanding the bilateral ties.
The Speaker said the high-level political dialogue made contribution to the economic cooperation, as the volume of trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkey made $2,5 billion last year.
Ogtay Asadov hailed the Azerbaijan-Turkey relations, saying it is an example for the world.
The Speaker also hailed relations between the two countries` parliaments.
Binali Yildirim said he was proud that he paid his first official visit in the capacity of premier to Azerbaijan.
The Turkish PM praised Azerbaijan’s successes after regaining its independence, saying President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues the development strategy established by national leader Heydar Aliyev.
Binali Yildirim noted Azerbaijan and Turkey jointly took part in implementing global projects, and noted Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars, Baku-Tbilisi-Gars, TANAP, TAP as bright examples of it. “Today, Azerbaijan makes huge investments in Turkish economy,” he added.
Binali Yildirim also hailed Azerbaijan’s position on condemnation of the German Parliament’s resolution on “so-called “Armenian genocide”, saying only historians must engage in history.
The Turkish Premier also noted Turkey has always supported Azerbaijan’s fair potion on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and hailed the successes of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces on the frontline in early April.
They also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
