BBC video reportage highlights situation on Azerbaijani-Armenian line of contact
Baku, January 7, AZERTAC
The BBC has aired a video reportage highlighting the situation on the line of contact between the Azerbaijani and Armenian armed forces.
Headlined “Gunfire 'daily reality' in Azerbaijan and Armenia conflict zone”, the reportage provides an insight into harsh living conditions of residents of Gazyan village, Tartar region.
BBC`s Rayhan Demytrie says the International Committee of the Red Cross has built a wall to protect the house of one of the villagers, but her father says it is still not safe. “We cant live on the second floor because it`s too dangerous. So all our family is cramped in one room downstairs,” a villager says.
“Villagers are complaining of bullets regularly hitting their homes,” says Rayhan Demytrie. She also gives information of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. “In the conflict Azerbaijan lost its territory and seven adjacent regions. Hundreds of thousands of people were displaced.”
In the reportage, Hikmat Hajiyev, spokesperson for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, condemns the Armenian military`s provocations on the line of contact.
