Bahar Muradova: Values shared by Azerbaijan and OSCE serve to ensure security in Europe
Baku, January 25, AZERTAC
Deputy Speaker of Azerbaijan`s parliament Bahar Muradova has said values shared by the country and OSCE serve to ensure security and cooperation in Europe while she met vice-presidents of the OSCE PA George Tsereteli and Kent Harstedt, and Secretary General of the organization Roberto Montella.
Muradova said Azerbaijan`s cooperation with OSCE across several years has contributed to the development of these values in the region and in the country. She applauded Azerbaijani-OSCE cooperation: “The country will do its utmost to preserve the common values.”
Muradova touched upon the parliamentary elections held in Azerbaijan. She said international organizations, including the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which observed the voting process, hailed the elections as democratic. She said global economic crisis, its serious impact on various regions and on OSCE itself created economic difficulties and impedes the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. “We must try to solve these problems,” she added.
OSCE PA Vice-President Tsereteli stressed the importance of strengthening relations between Azerbaijan and OSCE even further.
He also expressed OSCE`s concern about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and generally about the tensions on the contact lines.
