A reception dedicated to the 24th International "Caspian Oil and Gas 2017" exhibition took place in Baku.

Speaking at the ceremony, US ambassador to Azerbaijan, Robert Cekuta told about the importance of the exhibition. The 25th anniversary of bilateral US-Azerbaijan relations is also the 25th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s reemergence in the global arena, Robert Cekuta told.

“As the US president said in his letter to Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of the Gas and Oil Exhibition, Azerbaijan is a valuable partner of the US,” noted the ambassador.

“Our countries work together for the prosperity of Azerbaijanis,” said Cekuta. “We are working together in combating terrorism.”

“As President Donald Trump said earlier in his letter, the US strongly supports the parties in peaceful resolution of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, added the envoy.

US Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Diplomacy of US Department of State Robin Dunnigan said the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) will play an important role in diversification of Europe’s energy sources.

An open dialogue is important for implementation of such a major project, which involves numerous countries and partners, according to her.

She said the support of the US for the SGC project was also voiced at the meeting. Dunnigan added that the sides also stressed the mutual interest in cooperation in all areas.

UK Ambassador to Azerbaijan Carole Crofts told that UK remains the biggest investor in Azerbaijani economy.

Today, there are 400 British companies working in Azerbaijan in different spheres, she added.

“Azerbaijan remains to be a priority for UK in all sides from security to tourism,” said Crofts.

Speaking of the Oil and Gas Exhibition opened today in Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku, she said it underlines the strong relations between the two countries.

The 24th International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition and Conference 2017, as well as the 7th Caspian International Power and Alternative Energy Exhibition kicked off May 31 at Baku Expo Center.
