Washington, April 2 AZERTAC
President of the United States of America Barack Obama called Azerbaijan a "critical partner" against the threat of nuclear smuggling and terrorism at a press conference on the results of the Nuclear Security Summit.
Barack Obama said: “Azerbaijan, like many countries that participated, has already taken a number of steps. Each country has put forward a national action plan. There are some countries that have stockpiles of highly enriched uranium and they agreed get rid of it. There are other countries with civilian nuclear facilities but do not have necessary security practices. So they adopted better security practices. There are countries that could potentially be transit points for smuggling of nuclear materials so they worked with us on border controls and detection. And because of Azerbaijan’s location it is a critical partner in this process.”
