The “Film London Jarman” Award honors Derek Jarman, one of Britain’s most experimental and controversial artists of the late twentieth century, is an annual prize celebrating the spirit of imagination among UK artist film-makers. The award recognizes work that resists conventional definition, encompassing innovation and excellence.
Now in its seventh year, the Film London Jarman Award has a back catalogue of works that represent the breadth of contemporary moving image practice in the UK. Film London and the British Council have collaborated to curate a screening program that showcases films that have been shortlisted for the prize.
The purpose of the award is to invest in the career of an individual, enabling a period of experimentation without pressure. The award shines a light on artist film-makers who are to our times what Jarman was to his.
This touring program includes key works by Ed Atkins, Andrew Kötting, Elizabeth Price, Laure Prouvost and John Akomfrah.
Films will be screened in English with simultaneous translation into Azerbaijani.
