Baku, May 10, AZERTAC

A Lufthansa passenger plane en route to Frankfurt returned to Istanbul Ataturk Airport on Sunday, after the pilot heard a suspicious sound from the cargo section and demanded a search for explosives, the Dogan news agency reported.

The Lufthansa Airways' Airbus A321 plane, with the flight number LH-1305, took off at 6:10 a.m. from Ataturk Airport. After a while, the lead pilot reportedly heard a sound from the cargo section and contacted the air control tower, saying that he would be turning back to the airport. The plane landed without incident at around 7.00 a.m.

The pilot reportedly demanded a bomb search of the plane, which was parked in a safe area of the airport. The passengers were disembarked and taken to the terminal and the police searched the pilot's cabin and the cargo section after the security procedure. Passengers' suitcases were also checked by X-ray.
