Bulgaria’s 2014 parliamentary election: CEC announces final results
Eight parties won seats: GERB 84, Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) 39, Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) 38, Reformist Bloc 23, Patriotic Front 19, Bulgaria Without Censorship (BWC) 15, Ataka and socialist splinter ABC will have 11 seats each.
A total of 3, 501,269 ballots had been cast, of which 218,125 were found to be invalid (compared to 90,047 invalid ballots at the parliamentary elections in May 2013).
CEC did not announce the list of MPs elected on October 5 – in part, to give time to those candidates who stood for election in multiple districts to choose which one will they represent, but also to re-order the party lists in accordance with preferential voting. (Furthermore, at least five candidates have submitted requests, to date, asking not to be named MPs.)
The commission is expected to announce the elected MPs by the end of the week, as it is required to do by law within seven days of the Election Day.
