CIS Executive Committee to discuss educational cooperation

CIS Executive Committee will host an expert group meeting to finalize the draft documents and agreement on CIS cooperation in the field of education on February 10.
The first document to be considered by the expert group, is an agreement on granting equal rights to the CIS countries’ nationals to enter and study at various educational institutions of CIS member states. The draft agreement stipulates that nationals of CIS states will have equal rights to be admitted to higher educational institutions of other countries of the Commonwealth on the basis of mutual recognition of secondary school or intermediate vocational education diplomas within the state educational standards. Foreigners will be given the opportunity to pass a language course at preparatory departments.
The signatories of the document will assume the obligation to provide each other with normative legal acts regulating the rules for admission to educational institutions, registration and issuance of documents confirming relevant levels of education.
In addition, during the period of education, students from the CIS countries will be guaranteed rights, life, health safety and protection against all forms of discrimination.
The expert group will also consider draft provisions of the Congress of Teachers and Education Workers of CIS states – participants. This document focuses on the organization of the forum, its goals and objectives. The congress will be held once in two years, and its venue will be determined at a meeting of the Council for cooperation in education area.
