CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly observation mission visits Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis

The CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly observation mission has met with Deputy Chair of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis Valeh Alasgarov.
Alasgarov noted that citizens nowadays attached more importance to the right to vote. "Amendments to the Constitution of Azerbaijan is the requirement of civil society," he said.
"To be insured against ongoing dangerous prosesses both in the region and around the world requires the strengthening of the institution of the presidency and governance in the country," Alasgarov said.
On the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly –Azerbaijan relations, the Milli Majlis deputy chair hailed the objective and serious approach of the Assembly's observation mission, which had previously monitored the elections in the country.
In their remarks, head of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly observation mission, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Ilyas Umakhanov, Committee Chairman of the Federal Assembly Dmitry Azarov, representative of Kazakh parliament Serik Bekturganov underlined the objectivity as the key line of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly observation mission.
They expressed their confidence that Azerbaijan will hold a fair and transparent referendum.
