CIS experts to discuss use of satellite communications for military purposes

CIS Executive Committee will host a meeting of the expert group on the harmonization of the draft agreement on the use of satellite communication systems for military use and their further improvement on September 6 - 7.

The agreement envisages use and further development of satellite communication systems for military purposes in order to improve the reliability and control of the armed forces of interaction between them.

It is planned to create an integrated system of satellite communications of CIS member states on the basis of national segments.

The Russian Ministry of Defense, as an umbrella organization for the development of requirements to its technical characteristics, will contribute to the ministries of defense of participating states in building the project and operational documentation, ensuring compatibility characteristics of national segments of satellite communications for military purposes.

After being approved on the expert level, the document will be submitted to the CIS Council of the Heads of Government.
