Minsk, October 10, AZERTAC
A short-term observer mission of CIS has started working in Belarus today. The CIS IPA group of observers (as part of the CIS observation mission) will monitor the presidential election in Belarus scheduled for October 11. The mission includes 40 representatives from seven CIS countries. Head of the CIS IPA group of observers at Belarus presidential election Yuri Vorobyov told journalists in Minsk that he would not comment on the course of the elections in Belarus. "I should be asked such questions on Monday, October 12," he explained. According to Vorobyov, the short-term mission will work throughout the country and try to involve the largest number of sites. The observers will confirm whether the possibility of public access to the voting process and ban on campaigning on election day are being observed.
