Caspian Sea legal status discussed in Ashgabat

The 43rd session of the ad hoc working group for development of a convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea has got underway in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
The meeting brings together Azerbaijani deputy foreign minister Khalaf Khalafov, Iranian deputy foreign minister Ebrahim Rahimpour, the Russian president`s special envoy for delimitation and demarcation of borders, special envoy of the Russian foreign ministry Igor Bratchikov, chairman of the state-owned enterprise for the Caspian Sea under the President of Turkmenistan Murad Atadjanov and Kazakh foreign ministry`s special ambassador Zulfiyye Amanjolova.
Addressing the event, Azerbaijani deputy foreign minister Khalafov hailed what the working group has done since the previous gathering. He underlined that Azerbaijan backed the settlement of the issue of the legal status of the Caspian Sea within the sovereignty of all littoral states.
