Chatham House says it respects Azerbaijan`s sovereignty and independence
Baku, July 5, AZERTAC
Azerbaijan`s embassy to Great Britain has sent a letter of protest to the Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs over planned speech of head of the separatist regime in the Nagorno-Karabakh Bako Saakyan at the Institute.
According to Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a letter sent to the embassy, the institute said such meeting does not mean approval or recognition of separatist Nagorno Karabakh`s position. The Institute said it understood Azerbaijan`s concern over Saakyan`s visit, and respects Azerbaijan`s sovereignty and independence.
The letter noted that the meeting was not a public event and would not be attended by media representatives, and that it would be organized under the rules of the institute, bringing together a limited number of experts, the event would not serve promotion of separatism, and even the announcement on the website of Chatham House has been removed.
