Baku, June 19, AZERTAC

It is interesting to take part in the first European Games in Baku which located at the crossroads of the East and West. I believe Azerbaijan which organized the opening ceremony of the first European Games at the highest level will present viewers spectacular surprises in the closing ceremony, too, the Dutch archer Rick van der Ven said as he was interviewed by journalists.

Speaking about the opening ceremony of the first European Games the athlete said: “According to my observations in a short time I can say that development of sport is in focus of Azerbaijani government. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be so many modern sports venues in Baku. Athletes in your country are very happy because the heads of state watches their races in live arenas. It gives a great enthusiasm not only to them, but also us.

Expressing his satisfaction with the created conditions, the Dutch athlete hailed the Athletes Village as very beautiful.’ We feel at home here. I liked the sincerity and hospitality of your people very much. Hope to increase my joy with my victory’.
