Spanish international news agency EFE has launched a “House of News” museum.

The country`s acting Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy attended the opening ceremony.

The museum aims to spread the rich photographic and documentary collection possessed by the Spanish news agency, and to become a living and open field for other cultural and educational exhibitions. The museum will also be a meeting point for journalists as well as students who have a passion to find out the progress of the means of communication at the hands of EFE professionals.

The EFE museum will also showcase the news agency`s legacy of 77 years since its inception, its contribution as a news agency to Spanish journalism, and its testimony about the great events that have marked Spanish and world history since the twentieth century, as well as people`s everyday lives.

The “House of News” includes 12 million photographs dating back to 1857, in addition to millions of documents.
