Eden Hazard signs for Chelsea: the goals that made him one of Europe`s most prized transfer targets

Baku, May 29 (AZERTAC). Eden Hazard has announced on Twitter that he will join Chelsea this summer, for an estimated £78 million. See what made Roman Abramovich loosen the purse strings.

The 21-year-old became one of the most sought-after players in the game this season and actively flirted with a host of European giants.

Manchester United and Manchester City looked to be favourites for his signature until Chelsea`s surprise European Cup triumph last weekend.

Hazard admitted that was a game changer, telling using the expression `Champions League winners` to describe his new employers yesterday evening.

Dubbed a “little Messi” by former coach Claude Puel, Hazard was part of the Lille team that won the league and cup double in 2010/11, and became the youngest ever player to win the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award in the same season.

What`s most striking about the midfielder is that he seems to have mastered almost every aspect of the game.

As an 18-year-old in 2009 he scored this sublime goal against Lyon in French League Cup, showing in a matter of seconds his ability to find space instantly, beat a man, dribble with that Messiesque sense that suggests attempting to tackling would be futile, and unnervingly accurate shooting.

HIs ability to score from unexpected areas was also demonstrated by this goal from unwisely long range against Marseille:

Hazard`s ability with the ball at his feet has also been praised. In this 3-1 win away at St Etienne in September 2011 he scores his first after some outrageously tricky close control takes him past a forest of defenders. His second goal in that game was less artful, an unerring high finish from a tight angle, Lille teammate Joe Cole played with Hazard last season following his loan move from Liverpool in August 2011, and said that the Belgian reminds him of a young Wayne Rooney.

Hazard certainly shares some of Rooney`s impudence, witness this fearless game-saving penalty against Toulouse in the 2009 French Cup:

Like Messi, Hazard has yet to elevate his national side to his own sublime standard, but has still found time to show off his thrilling skills in a Belgium shirt as he did during this game against Luxembourg:

His first international goal in a European Championships 2012 qualifier against Kazakhstan showed typical composure, but Belgium will be absent from this summer`s tournament.
