Employee in charge of a program that mocked Azerbaijani language on Iranian television fired

Tehran, November 9, AZERTAC 

The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) has fired an employee who was in charge of a children`s program that mocked Azerbaijani language.

Local Azerbaijani intellectuals appealed to IRIB after “Fitileh” program made fun of Azerbaijani language in its November 6 edition.

In a statement, IRIB`s public relations department apologized to Azerbaijanis and said “such cases will never be repeated”.

IRIB also said two senior TV officials were reprimanded after the incident.
