Italy-based “Fidelity house” website has posted an article highlighting the tourism potential of Baku.
The article says that located at the crossroads of East and West, Baku has become a charming cosmopolitan city. “It is worth exploring the city surrounded by ancient monuments and modern buildings.”
The website provides information about the origin of the word 'Baku', saying that it comes from the Persian word 'Badi Kube' which means a city of winds.
The article underlines that buildings in Baku bearing the traces of history, including the ancient palaces, mosques combine with modern elements.
Highlighting the history of Baku, the article says that the city's main historical center Icharishahar was classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000. “The Maiden Tower, Shirvanshahs' Palace and other historical monuments here reflect the old image of Baku.”
