‘First Christian churches built by Albanians’, Norwegian historian

A+ A

Gabala. July 21, AZERTAC

Despite the groundless claims of the Armenians as if they had certain role in spreading Christianity in the territory of Azerbaijan, it has been proved that Christianity here is connected with the Albanian history. And the first Christian churches were built just by the Albanians.

This was stated by professor Bjørn Vegge, the University of Oslo, Norway, as the scholar was interviewed during the international conference titled “The Albanian Apostolic Church: Past and Present” held Gabala, Azerbaijan.

The Norwegian scholar said: “The language, religion and culture of any small people living in Azerbaijan is worthily regarded. I am pleased with my every visit to this country. The first churches in the territory of Azerbaijan have been created in the village Kish of the Caucasian Albania. The Apostolic Church in the Caucasian Albania, as well as in the entire Christian world is one of the most ancient churches.

Spreading of Christianity and creation of the first church in Albania is connected with the apostles, on which also was written in the letter by priest Abraham in 609 BC.

So, despite the groundless claims of the Armenians as if they had certain role in spreading Christianity in the territory of Azerbaijan, it has been proved that Christianity here is connected with the Albanian history. The first Christian churches were built just by the Albanians.
