Former UN Secretary General receives Nizami Ganjavi award
A meeting between the 6th UN Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali and the executive director of the International Center of Nizami Ganjavi, Rovshan Muradov took place in the central headquarters of UNESCO in Paris.
The meeting was held within the framework of the project implemented in connection with the second anniversary of the organization, and an honorary member of the Center received the Nizami Ganjavi award.
The meeting also mulled the Third Global Shared Societies Forum to be held in 2015 in Baku.
Ghali emphasized the importance of the meeting organized on the initiative of the International Center of Nizami Ganjavi and the Club de Madrid, and by the support of the Azerbaijan State Committee for Work with the Diaspora.
He said that discussions on the topic of “Restoring Confidence in Europe” is an important step today on the background of conflict and intense political processes in Europe and the terrorist wave observed in the Muslim world.
Bill Clinton, Vaira Vike-Freiberga, Tarja Halonen, Suleyman Demirel, Queen Noor, Queen Silvia and others are among the recipients of the Nizami Ganjavi award.
