His Excellency Mr Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan

Dear Mr President,

On the occasion of your birthday, I would like to wish you a lot of health, good energy and optimism, and a great strength for all the new endeavors and plans you may have.

It was a great privilege to cooperate with you through the last twenty years, starting with the period of our presidencies. I am keeping in warm memory your official visit to Poland in March 2005, with all the meetings, especially the many private occasions for discussion and reflection. It was a privilege to present to you my home country and its achievements, and I am glad that this visit strengthened the friendly relations between our states and nations.

Azerbaijan`s and your personal dedication to the values of inter-religious and inter-ethnic tolerance and reconciliation are well known in the world today. In this regard, also the Global Baku Forum, where I had the opportunity to participate, stands as a significant example of Azerbaijan`s devotion to fostering international dialogue on these issues.

It was a unique occasion to familiarize myself with the peculiarities of the regional policy and challenges, that Azerbaijan and the region are currently facing.

I wish you, Mr President, that the years ahead of you are filled with many successes that benefit your compatriots and the international community.
