GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN GRANTS JPY 222 MLN TO IMPROVE EMERGENCY MEDICAL EQUIPMENT IN BAKU
Signing ceremony for exchange of notes between the two countries concerning the provision of 222 mln Japanese yen (approximately US $ 205 mln) to Azerbaijan through Japan’s General Grant Aid on the project of improvement of emergency medical equipment in Baku city took place on Wednesday at the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan Republic.
The documents were signed by Mr. Hidcomi Hakajima, Charge D’affaires of Japan to Azerbaijan and Deputy Minister of Azerbaijan Abid Sharifov.
Main aim of the project is to strengthen and develop emergency medical care treatment in four medical institutes of Baku, Clinical Hospital No.3, Clinical Hospital No.6, Republican Neurosurgery Hospital and the Unified Hospital No.26. The larger part of the equipment will be provided to the intensive care unit and department of obstetrics and gynecology.
The expected number of beneficiaries is 400, 000. Since 1999, the government of Japan has granted US $ 729 mln to develop economy, agriculture, social and cultural areas, including human resources in the country.
