Baku, March 4, AZERTAC
“Manifesto of an Ambassador" book by Azerbaijani deputy FM, rector of ADA University Hafiz Pashayev and “Victory of black gold” by Professor Chapay Sultanov have been launched in Baku. The Italian language books were published by Sandro Teti Publishing House.
The event participants included officials, public figures, representatives of the political and scientific circles and the media.
Speaking at the ceremony, Italian Ambassador Giampaolo Cutillo said there is no need to stress once again what important role Hafiz Pashayev played since the country regained independence.
He touched upon the relations between the two countries. “I think it is an opportunity also to reaffirm the relations between Italy and Azerbaijan. We have strategic partnership thanks to our Prime Minister Matteo Renzi`s and President Ilham Aliyev`s personal relations. We have a lot in common, a lot of political economic, energy. I believe that culture plays an important role. Azerbaijan is doing a lot to promote culture in Italy, in Europe. Thanks to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation many big events, which took place in Italy in 2015, contributed to promoting the better knowledge of the country,” said Mr Cutillo. “I also welcome Expo Milano which gained extraordinary success. Some 21 million people visited Expo. Just few million of them went to see Azerbaijani pavilion, which was hailed by the public, by the media as one of the best, huge pavilions.” He praised the Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s contribution to the excavations, which recently took place both in Rome and the Vatican. “This has been done with the generous contribution of the Azerbaijani institution. So we very much welcome the contribution of Azerbaijan to our cultural relations.”
Hafiz Pashayev highlighted the history of the book "Manifesto of an Ambassador". He said that apart from true facts, he writes in the book about his inner feelings and thoughts. Mr Pashayev highlighted his recent visit to Italy, which saw the presentation of his book in Rome. “This is important to have opportunity and event which brings together the cultures, societies,” he said. “ADA University and Italian Embassy will continue cooperation,” he noted, adding that in a couple of days former Italian FM Franco Frattini will deliver a speech at ADA University. “We hope to have continuation of our dialogue established during my recent trip to Rome.
We would like to have more Italian students come here, and during my visit to Rome we signed an agreement with Italian La Sapienza University. It is important to increase the number of visits. So I hope that my book and the book of Chapay Sultanov will contribute to this process,” he added.
In his remarks, head of Sandro Teti Publishing House Sandro Teti expressed his gratitude to the author of the book, which, he said, “reflects all peculiarities of the Azerbaijani diplomacy”. He stressed the significance of the book in informing Italian readers about the Azerbaijani diplomacy.
