The German city of Hamburg will host the 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships, according to AIBA.
Hamburg, which is also one of the cities aiming to host the 2024 Summer Olympics, beat two other bids to secure the event in two years' time.
"Hamburg proved its appetite for boxing when it held the APB finals in September, and the country's capacity for hosting major sporting events like the AIBA World Boxing Championships is clear," said AIBA's president Ching-Kuo Wu.
AIBA said it would not reveal the identity of the losing bids, though Sochi in Russia earlier this year expressed interest in hosting the 2017 championships.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the governing body's executive committee in Qatar, where the current world championships are being held.
The finals for that event take place on Wednesday and Thursday.
Jurgen Kyas, President of the German Boxing Federation, said the tournament would "be of huge importance to the continuing growth of German boxing".
Previous boxing worlds in Germany were held in 1995 in Berlin and 1982 in Munich.
